Pastry Wrapped Baked Brie with Maple Roasted Apples, a simple, yummy, holiday appetizer we can all make and enjoy! Store-bought puff pastry wrapped around creamy brie cheese with apple butter (or use fig preserves). Then bake until the pastry is golden and the brie is warm and melted. Top this flaky pastry with sweet, buttery maple-roasted apples. They’re so delicious over the melty wheel of brie. SO MUCH YUMMINESS – always a favorite at holiday parties!
I was trying to figure out just what recipes to share on these final days leading up to Thanksgiving. I wasn’t sure what type of recipes you all might need most this week. Is it more Thanksgiving recipes, quick appetizers, or desserts?
I have ideas for them all. It’s the time of year when my mind never quiets. I’m always thinking of what to make. So many good recipes to share! I decided that easy dinners were an absolute must (yesterday’s yummy ramen). Then one appetizer, because we all need last-minute appetizers (today’s brie). And for tomorrow, well I just couldn’t wait anymore so we’ll be jumping into Christmas.
It’s time for Christmas cookies!
But today we’ve got pastry-wrapped baked brie. I serve some variation at every Thanksgiving and Christmas gathering. It’s my family’s favorite, and always the easiest to prepare.
This recipe is one I’ve had on rotation since 2017. It’s such an easy way to prepare brie and the maple butter roasted apples really make it so delish. I know you’re going to love this recipe!
Step 1: roast the apples
I love to use Honeycrisp apples. Thinly slice them and toss them with salted butter and maple syrup. Then, roast them up in the oven until they begin to caramelize in the maple. They’re really delicious and your kitchen will smell wonderful too!
If you don’t love apples, I recommend making my cranberry brie instead.
Step 2: assemble the brie
One thing my Nonnie taught me, was that appetizers are best when they’re simple. Therefore, store-bought puff pastry is a must. Especially during the busy holidays.
Unwrap the brie, then sit it on top of the pastry. Top the brie with the apple butter. Or mix the apple butter with fig preserves (this is what I do and what we love most), Then wrap the brie up tight inside the pastry dough.
Step 3: bake
Now, brush the pastry with a beaten egg and add a sprinkle of coarse sugar. This step isn’t needed, but it makes the pastry really sparkle. It’s fun for the holidays and makes the flaky pastry extra delicious.
Throw the brie in the oven, and wait for the apples to finish up and the brie to bake.
When the brie comes out of the oven, serve it immediately topped with the maple apples and any sauce left in the pan. You can enjoy this with your favorite crackers or toasted bread. It’s hard to describe just how good this really is. But if you love apples and you love brie, you must make this. It’s classic but turned up a notch, and it really is roll-your-eyes-back GOOD.
Promise, this will be the favorite appetizer of the night! If you want to add a pop of red, try a few pomegranate arils. That would be so pretty!

Absolutely loved this recipe. The combination of the apples, maple syrup, thyme and brie is excellent. I didn’t have coarse sugar, so I ended up using regular. Excellent.

do you have to let the puff pastry come to room temp or do you assemble it when it is frozen
Yes, let the puff pastry thaw and come to room temp! xT
