I’ve gotten really excited for summer over the last couple of weeks. It’s still snowing here, but I can’t wait for our trees to be green again and for mild temperatures to be back. It’s exciting knowing just how close we’re getting to the long summer days and nights we all love!
Since I’ve been dreaming of summertime, and honestly after spending time in Miami, I’ve been thinking up frozen recipes. So many fun ideas this season!!
I have a long list on my notes app and I just keep adding more daily. But we all know the combination of chocolate and peanut butter excites my family most. I shared this idea for these creamy popsicles with my mom and immediately she told me I must make them!!
I held out as long as I could. But after a few warmer teaser days, I caved in! I just needed to make these!!!
The details
So these banana popsicles are the simplest. I love that they are not super sweet, but yet still taste and feel so indulgent thanks to their creaminess.
The first step is to make the peanut butter banana popsicles. A very simple mix of Greek yogurt, peanut butter, bananas, and vanilla extract. Just 4 simple ingredients for the base!
Add all ingredients to a blender, no need to slice the bananas. Just blend them up until creamy.
I will note that I personally love to use plain Greek yogurt. But if you have a lot of cottage cheese lying around, you can replace the yogurt with cottage cheese. However, I think that yogurt gives a better taste and texture.
And then, my only other note is about sweetness. These popsicles are only sweetened by the bananas and chocolate, there’s no added sugar. If you think you’d like something sweeter, I recommend blending in 2-6 dates or adding 1/3 cup honey or maple syrup.
Pour the creamy banana peanut mix into popsicle molds, or keep it simple and use paper Dixie Cups. Then freeze!!
Now the chocolate. I use a dark chocolate bar and coconut oil to create a homemade “magic shell”. Just melt the ingredients together.
Once the chocolate is melted, smash the pretzels into crumbs. Dip each frozen popsicle into the magic shell, then roll through the pretzel crumbs! It’s honestly a really fun process if you’re looking for your kids to help. And super easy for them too!
And of course, the end result is deliciousness!!!
Most importantly, these pops are actually creamy, actually have real chocolate, and they’re made so much healthier than any store-bought options.
And then there’s that layer of crushed pretzels. Is it needed? Nope, but these are so delicious with salted pretzels. Creamy, sweet, and salty! So yummmmyy!

We thought it was too rich and heavy with a prominent banana flavor.
