Strawberry Hibiscus Ginger Margarita. Fresh strawberries, sweet hibiscus tea, spicy ginger, and a good splash of tequila. Super easy, refreshing, a touch sweet, and extra pretty too. The perfect weekend drink to enjoy in both the spring and summer months!

I’ve decided that I have the most fun when creating and photographing new drink recipes. I put so much less pressure on myself to make them “perfect”. With everyday recipes…like my quick weeknight dinners, or sweet desserts…my main concerns revolve around creating a recipe that’s delicious, approachable, and healthy…ish. It can be hard to know just what everyone is looking for. But with drinks, I just let go of all that and have fun! I don’t really worry about how many of you will make it, or if you’ll find the recipe a little too weird or out there. Of course I want you guys to LOVE my cocktails, but I also know that they are not for everyone. They’re really just meant to be fun. If you love it, amazing. If not, I’ll probably be sharing another one in the future that hopefully you will love.

I guess the point is, I really have so much fun developing new cocktail recipes!

Which brings me to today’s margarita. This is not your traditional sugar-filled margarita, it’s definitely very different. But you guys?

It’s so pretty, so fun to make, and most importantly…SO GOOD!

Cinco de Mayo is just a week away, so I knew we all needed a fun drink to celebrate.

While this isn’t traditional, it does involve some fun flavors, like hibiscus tea, which is actually very common in Mexico.

This margarita is a simple mix of fresh strawberries, sweet hibiscus tea, zingy orange, tequila, and lots of lime. I like to keep the sugar content very LOW with my drinks. This margarita is only lightly sweetened with a touch of honey and a splash of ginger beer. In my world, sugary cocktails are no bueno. A sugar hangover is the absolute worst. Plus, I like to save my sugar intake for layer cakes

I also like to top my margs off with a splash of ginger beer. I just love a little sparkly and the kick that the ginger gives off. Garnish your margarita with fresh limes, strawberries, hibiscus flowers, or a mix. You will have the prettiest, most refreshing…and certainly the most delicious, margarita. My kind of drink!

    1. Hi Jenna,
I like to just top each drink with the ginger beer, I think it works better that way:) Let me know if you have any other questions! xT

I made the pitcher recipe this for a tick tock drink round and called it “a little bit dramatic” after Regina George’s tank top in mean girls. It won the competition.
    A couple hot tips!
    – Skip the tea making and buy edible hibiscus flowers in hibiscus syrup!! You can buy jars of 11 flowers in syrup at Whole Foods, local food coops, and speciality food stores.
    – I used 4 cups of sliced strawberries and it barely made enough mix for 8 people.I needed enough for 10 12 oz cups so if you’re using 8 oz glasses this pitcher recipe will be fine just don’t measure the tequila. Goby taste.
Next time I’m using 6 cups sliced strawberries and doubling the measurements of lime juice, adding the whole 8 oz jar of hibiscus syrup, zesting 3 oranges, three tablespoons of honey, and pouring in half the fifth of tequila.
    – run the rim of glass in the Orange juice from the orange and then the hibiscus flower soaked in syrup around the rim. Then run the glass through TAJIN. You’re welcome. Chefs kiss.

    1. Hey Atalie,
Happy Friday! I am so glad this recipe was enjoyed, thanks a lot for making it! Thanks for sharing what worked well for you:) xTieghan

    1. Hey Jaime,
You can actually adjust your serving size and the ingredients will manually adjust for you. I hope you love the recipe, Cheers! xTieghan

This looks wonderful! One tip: the “Q” brand of canned mixers came out with a hibiscus ginger beer which is delicious ( and might save time by skipping the tea-steeping step). I have found it at Target as well as larger liquor store chains.

    1. Hey Marianne,
Thanks so much! I’ll have to look for those next time I am at Target! xTieghan

    1. Hey Emily! No adjustments needed. Just add the mixed (strained + minus the ginger beer) drink to a blender with ice and blend! Top off with the ginger beer. That will be SO GOOD. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe! Thank you! xTieghan Also, if it helps you, check out the below recipe for how I have made a blender marg.

    1. This makes 1 drink, but the steeped tea makes enough for 3-4 drinks. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe! Thank you! xTieghan

This might be one of my favorite cocktails!

I used hibiscus tea and ginger kombucha, but otherwise made as instructed. Loved the fresh flavors and the tartness!

    I love your cocktails!

  4. Looks delicious! Any brand of dried hibiscus flowers you’d recommend? Thinking about making it this weekend 🙂

  5. We found the measurements confusing -says it makes 1 serving and 1 cup of water in ingredient list, but then only asks for 2-4 tablespoons per drink in instructions?

    1. HI there! You will have extra syrup to use for additional drinks. I am so sorry if that is confusing. The syrup will stay good if kept in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe! Thank you! xTieghan

Made this tonight and it was sooo good! I added nutmeg to the strawberries because I love nutmeg with strawberries.
