These Chicken Tzatziki Skewers with Feta Fries are a spring and summer GO-TO, we just love them! The chicken is marinated in olive oil, shallots, garlic, oregano, lemon, and harissa. It’s grilled and served with creamy Tzatziki sauce and garlic tahini. These skewers never disappoint. Add a side of homemade garlicky feta fries and ketchup for a deliciously fun family dinner.
Look, it might be snowing here (and freezing), but I don’t think this weather is normal for the rest of you. May is usually filled with days that get progressively warmer. The sun stays up longer, and we all want to spend time outside.
Soon enough, spring weather will arrive, and I’ll be prepared with plenty of fun recipes to celebrate!
I’ve been excited to share this recipe all month long. I wanted to wait until the week before Mother’s Day because these Greek-inspired chicken skewers are perfect for grilling up this weekend to celebrate Mom!
This is the time of year when I start making a lot of Mexican and Mediterranean-inspired dishes. The Tzatziki sauce comes out frequently, and I even begin to use the grill—or my grill pan, at the very least!
I wanted to share a Greek grilled chicken served with plenty of Tzatziki sauce, which we all love. I was trying to think of something new and different, and then it hit me that a Greek chicken skewer could be so delicious, especially with Tzatziki and some garlicky tahini too.
But then, I needed to add a side – feta fries, of course!
Step 1: marinate the chicken
This is a mix of extra virgin olive oil, shallots, garlic, dried oregano, chipotle chili powder, honey, lemon, and harissa sauce. Mix it all in a bowl and add the chicken.
At this point, and if time allows, you can refrigerate the chicken for a day or two before grilling. The longer it sits, the more intense its flavor will become.
Step 2: thread the chicken onto the skewers
Now, the fun part. Take the seasoned chicken and thread each piece one after another onto metal or wooden skewers.
Bake the chicken on a sheet pan until cooked through are charred. Alternately, you can heat your grill and cook each skewer until light grill marks appear. Nothing too fancy!
Step 3: make the fries
While the skewers are cooking, bake the feta fries. All I do for my fries is cut russet potatoes into matchstick-size pieces, then toss with olive oil, garlic powder, cayenne, and sea salt.
Then bake them up until crispy.
Step 4: the herbs/garlic/feta
While the fries are cooking, mix a big handful of fresh herbs. I use dill and basil, with lemon zest and grated garlic. Mix in sesame seeds and crumbled feta cheese.
As soon as the fries are done cooking, toss them while hot with the herby feta cheese mix.
Step 5:Â for serving
By now, the chicken skewers should be cooked.
Serve the skewers topped with Tzatziki sauce and garlicky tahini sauce (you can use something from the store or my homemade recipe, which is in the notes section).
Then there are the feta fries on the side. I love the fries with ketchup and tahini for a double dip—SO YUMMY!
The leftovers are perfect for the next day’s lunch! The sauce will last all week and can be used in multiple recipes.Â

Absolutely delicious while so simple! I tweaked it but only just a little. I had my hubby grill the chicken after letting it marinade for around 2 hours. We skipped the tahini but only because our local stores were sold out. SO yummy!

Why is it that I cannot access the recipe for your Tzatziki? It keeps saying that page is blocked??
Hey Fortuna,
So sorry about this! The tzatziki that is linked here is for store bought. But I also have this recipe if you want to make it homemade:

Fantastic dinner tonight! This was great. We grilled some squash as a side.
Side note – dip definitely would be better w garlic tahini, regular kinda took the flavors down, so we added pinch of salt, squeeze of lemon and dash of fresh dill as it was go-time. Probably will roast and smash in some garlic next time. Sooooo good!!!!
Hey Virginia,

Hey Jean,
Amazing!! So glad to hear that this recipe was enjoyed, I appreciate you making it! Happy Monday! xT
We made this a couple nights ago and it WAS tasty. Our issue was that there was garlic in taziki sauce, garlic in the regular sauce and garlic on the fries. After dinner we felt like we could take on a dozen vampires! So my advice would be to cut all the garlic in half so you end up with a reasonable and tasteful amount. The chicken was super tender and juicy. I’d make this one again with way less garlic.
Hey Claire,
Thanks so much for making this recipe and sharing your feedback regarding the garlic, so glad to hear it was enjoyed! xx
Sounds amazing, going to make this weekend! I live near my city’s greektown—I love these flavors! Were you inspired by souvlaki? It’s one of my favorite things to order!
Sorry if this is a silly question, but can I bake these or use my air fryer? I love to grill, but sadly my climate doesn’t always allow that. Thank you.
Hey Caroline,
Sure, you could also just use a skillet on your stove top:) Let me know if you give this recipe a try, I hope you love it! xT
Could you make this with fish or vegetables for a pescatarian option? Any suggestions for types?
Hey Nicole,
